The wind caught the wings of Ting Fei as she glided downwards towards the approaching village.

Regardless of their temperaments, it would be extremely rude to perform a flyover of the village, something she wished to avoid at all cost.

Letting out long colorful ribbons to garner attention, he and her young charge, and sister Song Fei, flew lazy circles to draw attention and to give the certainly watching persons plenty of time to decide who they would met them.

Spotting what looked like an approaching party, she cut off her pattern and gently glided down, wrapping the streamers around her smoothly, before landing.

A soft thump nearby showed her sister to of landed somewhat less gracefully, her arms inexpertly attempting to untangle the ribbons.

Letting out a sigh, she began to untangle Song of the long fabrics, with luck they wouldn't take offense.

Volin Dyr was a simple priest, fresh from his clerical studies and sent to the surrounding villages to preach the word of Ilalu to the people, This was the first village he'd traveled to and lo and behold he could see Avians flying in the distance, their colorful ribbons and garments giving them away from quite a distance.

The villagers had been worried and anxious, outsiders had never bore good tidings to the Asselian people but Volin felt it best to meet them himself, if only to prevent an armed response from the village, still the elder insisted he take a dozen villagers with bows and spears with him for protection. So as they landed Volin and his party stopped a respectful distance from the visitors.

"Hail travelers, what brings you to Asselian lands?"

"We're Diplomats!" Song burst enthusiastically, seemingly unaware of the armed response their approach had drawn, and clearly too young to truly warrant the title.

'Oh Kifu, save me from idiotic sibling.'

"I apologize for our method of approach" Ting began.
"We did not mean any offense." she said, and bowing lowly her fist held in talon, in the traditional sign of respect.

"Her enthusiasm aside, my sister was not incorrect. I am Ting Fei, and this is my sister Song Fei. We have been sent by Lord Xai, as emissaries to our new neighbors. We have been long isolated, and as such have little knowledge in the traditional ways to arrange such meetings. Again our apologies if our method of approach has offended you." She says politely, bowing again and warily eyes the armed villages. If they should attack, The spearmen are easily avoided, but it would only take a single arrow...

She wouldn't be able to live with herself if little Song was injured due to her failure.

Volin smiled and shrugged, waving down the villagers who slowly lowered their weapons, willing to trust the priest's decision.

"I am sorry for our poor response but this world is new to us and it is safer to err on the side of caution at times. I am Volin Dyr, Priest of Ilalu and a humble servant of Asselia, it is a pleasure to meet you, Ting Fei and Song Fei."

Ting Bows, less formally this time.

"The pleasure is ours Volin Dyr."

"If it is not too much trouble, could you tell us to who we should speak to in regards to our mission and what, would be the best approach to meeting them?"

"Also where can we get some food?" Song adds, looking curiously behind the Priest of Ilalu at the villagers.

Ting reaches out and holds her younger sisters beak shut, as she tries to recover from the faux pas.

"We brought our own rations, and if we have yourr permission i can hunt small game. Please don't trouble yourselves." She says, glaring daggers at her younger sibling who seems long immune.

Volin chuckles at the younger avian's enthusiasm, such was the humor of youth, Volin was still a young man himself though, only 120 years.

"If it's a more formal mission you seek I would suggest the capital and the Empress, and I would suggest to land a few miles from the city and walk, give the guards plenty of time to be alerted to your presence so as not to cause stir."

He waved to the villagers with an easy smile, "Go back and inform the village we have guests."

"But please, before you go, if you are hungry feel free to join us for lunch, we would be remiss to not offer food to honest travelers in our realm."

Ting gratefully accepts the act of hospitality, and does her best to keep her sister from bombarding the priest with questions before moving on.

Following the priests advice they fly towards the city, and land several miles out of its boarders, as they trek towards the city proper.

After a time, as they neared the city a lone woman on horseback in chain armor rode out to meet them.

"Travelers, you have come a long way I'm sure, what business brings you to Asselia?"

The smaller of the two avians opens her beak, however the older one closes it for her.

"My name is Ting Fei, and this is my sister Song Fei. We have been sent as Emissaries by Emperor Xai on behalf of the Xai'Kifu empire to speak with your people in the hopes of peaceful coexistence." she says, removing her talon to give a proper bow.

"Nice to meet you!" the younger one adds, bowing in a similar if less gracefull manner.

The knight had never heard of the Xai'Kifu but it was a new world and it wasn't that surprising that they'd met peoples they were unfamiliar with. But they seemed to be friendly, or at least not having any intent to harm, it would be the call of the Empress if anything.

"I see, welcome to New Arsun, emissaries of the Xai'Kifu. Please follow me to the palace."

And with little else to say she led the two Avians into the city, the streets were busy at this time of day and many people stopped to look at the newcomers, some were distrustful, others simply curious but no one gave them trouble and they soon arrived at the palace, the emissaries were told to wait in the antechamber before they were announced.

minutes passed before the door to the throne room opened and they were told to enter.

"Announcing Ting Fei and Song Fei of the Xai'Kifu Empire!"

Ting walked along side the knight captain as they made their way through the city. Aside from a friendly wave Song had been remarkably well behaved in the crowded streets.

Once entered the ante chamber she let go a sigh of relief. She quickly set to getting herself preened up , as well as her sister.

Just in time as the chamber opened, "Announcing Ting Fei and Song Fei of the Xai'Kifu Empire."

'Well here goes nothing.'

The first thign that struck her wa the beauty of the place. Her own people had their great artisins, but thethe elves was something to behold. Several lifetimes of skill was held by each artist, and it was clearly worked into the magnificence of the palace.

She felt very under dressed, as they approached the throne.

Bowing deeply, she introduced herself.

"I bid you greetings, Empress, from our Emperor Xai, We have come here in the hopes of laying the groundworks for peace, and the foundation for cooperation between our peoples."

Artas stared down at the Avians from the raised throne that served as her seat of power for these sorts of meetings, she personally found it a bit excessive but it served it's purpose well enough so she ignored it.

"Welcome to Asselia, emissaries of the Xai'Kifu, I am more than happy to accept your desire for peace, I wish for nothing but peace and goodwill for our two lands myself. As for cooperation, it certainly depends on the type of cooperation you seek but I am happy to hear out any ideas you may have."

Unsure of the proper way to proceed. She simply went with earnest and truthful.

"We were instructed to seek of three things when we set out. The first is a simple statement of non-agression between us, as we wish to lay to rest conflict between our peoples before is begins."

"The second was a to negotiate an exchange of Goods and ideas so we can both benefit, in both in wealth and of mind."

"The last, and most tentative, is an agreement for mutual defense. We as a people dislike war, but we understand that that choice is not always yours to make, If someone where to bring a force to your gates unprovoked, we would attempt to support you in the hopes that you would return such a favor to us."

Well, she had said it. Clear and to the point, she had almost certainly broke some sort protocol, hopefully they would not take offense.

Artas considered the request carefully, boldly proposed with no hesitation, outside standard protocol and bold but not unwelcome and they were easily agreeable.

"I can agree to the first and third proposals easily but trade is something that will take some work for us to set up the appropriate infrastructure to support the goods you would bring, I suspect we will have to leave the possibility of trade to a time when Asselia has the markets for it."

Ting Fei let out a sigh of relief, and bowed once more in respect.

"Thank you your highness, We would of been honored and overjoyed to leave with nothing but friendship." she says.

"As for trade, we understand. Please send word you wish to take us up on our offer, and we will work to expand our own markets to suit you."

"If there is anything else i might assist you in, or questions you wish to ask, please let me know. Otherwise I would return home and give the joyful news to Lord Xai, as well as begin to iron out the details.

Master Jin wove his way through the crowded streets, his can clicking off the path as he and his enterage drew gawkers.

His escort tried in vain to shepard him to the Kaizens diplomatic building in vain as he meandered his way through the streets.

Eventually he managed to lead them there anyways to their great shock, but more to his figuring out the general direction they where trying to get him to go than simple chance.

He handed over his missive to the person in charge of such things, humbly requesting an audience with New Asselia's ruler.

(For the sake of doing something Imma just assume Jin is heading to her in Forgehall for something to do)

Master Jin was greeted with the all due respect to his position and was promptly led to the Empress. Artas was dressed in full armor with a sword at her belt, looking over a table with maps, she gave Jin a polite bow.

"What brings a representative of the Kaizen to see me today?"

Jin bowed respectfully.

"I greet you Empress of New Allesia." he said

"I've come to ask your permission to teach and learn. After my most recent meditations, I've found myself with an abundance of time, and most of those who would listen to my foolishness have already humored me as far as they are willing." he said lightly.

"For nearing a year now we have traded with your people, and yet In my absence I know very little about them, something I wish to rectify. "

"With your permission I would like create a small monastery to teach what wisdom my people have gleaned, and teach those who are curious of our ways. And where we may hopefully to learn of your own people, and to learn from them just as such."

Artas regarded Jin for a moment, it was a strange request but not that surprising considering the Kaizen's proclivity for contemplation and introspection, an instinctual desire to reject the proposal was squashed only hesitantly, the Empress's memory of the Dwarves betrayal was still fresh in her mind and a warning about trust and having too much of it in one's allies.

But the Kaizen had little in the way of military strength and Asselia was rising with many new allies, would a monastery truly be that dangerous? After a moment she decided it would not be too dangerous.

And if she was honest with herself it would be just the thing her son would love, a place to learn new ideas, new ways and the culture of various others. He had the mind of a general but the heart of a scholar, always seeking new knowledge and understanding.

"Your request is granted Master Jin, there is a site a few miles from the city that might suffice for such a monastery unless you had an alternative idea.

Jin was mildly supprised, but bowed gratefully.

"My earnest thanks your grace." A bit more flattering than he'd normally go for.

"We would build it wherever you believe the most appropriate, As I do not believe our people have made such a place before outside a city proper, so i greatly look forward to the task." He said enthusiastically.

"Not to mention it is always quite enjoyable to meet those with new perspective."

'Hmm, I think a guarden would be appropriate. Something practical too. I wonder how many types of edible flowers the elves migh have. It would be nice to extend our gardens.'
He shook himself out of the mindset for a moment.

"I shall take whatever advice you have on the subject to heart. Before i leave though if you have anything i might think upon. I've little mind for warfare, but i've been said to have good insight, from time to time."

<Master Jin will be assumed to of left to get it underway unless you want to chat about anything>

(I'm going to assume, as you said in your own post, that time has passed, maybe a few days or so?)

Prince Loran of Asselia gently pushed his way through the throng of people in the streets, the crowds at this time of day were thick and everyone seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere, he was as well but he did enjoy these moments of being among his people, it made him feel closer to them if by just a bit.

But he had an objective, he'd heard just recently from his mother that the Kaizen had wanted to set up a monastery nearby, a place to reflect and teach what they had learned to others. And well, Loran was reasonably eager to learn, his time spent in Forgehall had been enlightening but he'd learned what he could there and now it was time to take a new opportunity.

So, pushing his way through the crowd he proceeded to the Kaizen's embassy and to where he hoped to find Master Jin.
