Couple turn 2 rules changes/balance tweaks.

Protection now works on a Yes/No basis instead of an equal basis. Something like this:

When a hostile power is incoming: is there protection?
If YES, power fails, -Protection equal to power's cost.
If NO power succeeds.

The general jist being it's now pretty easy to block a single curse or random potshot, but still expensive if you want to stop an enemy throwing a barrage at you.

The other change: Contemplation Hero bonus reduced from +3 to +2.

To be certain i understand; 1 Protection blocks the first "meteor" that hits it. Then you have -3 protection, so no more protection for the rest of the turn.

4 protection blocks 1 meteor , 0 protection, no more for the turn.

5 protection blocks 1 meteor, 1 protection, can block 1 more spell per turn..

OR is it;

3 protection: blocks nothing if hit by a Meteor.
4 protection blocks a meteor, no mor proteciton.
7 protection blocks a meteor, and a 3 DE "Curse" or what have you. but nothing else.

Also, general boo/hiss on contemplation nerf

Come on the contemplation source obviously needed to be nerfed. You were getting for free what other nations needed to spend significant amounts of resources and/or risk to get.

I disagree that being able to do nothing else with your hero was not a notable cost, especially considering that some people are doing 2-3 things with their heros. But a nerf is a nerf, I'll cope.

I can't wait to see what happens next with this game. I think I've been spoiled by live roleplay and video games, where I can click "end turn" and get instant results to my decisions. At the same time, I'm seriously enjoying the freedom of not feeling rushed myself, and having enough time to think my actions through to my own satisfaction.

Yeah. I love these forums as a venue for casual writing. You get prompts and feedback back, but you don't need to worry about it being a full story or classroom level quality. I get so much practice in character studies and writing short scenes here. Plus, I rather enjoy reading everyone else's Life and Admin posts.
